Nominations

Nomination Rules

  • It is expected that candidates (potential or nominated) are familiar with all election rules.  These are available here 
  • Nominations open on 12th February 2025
  • Nominations close at 5pm sharp on 7th March 2025
  • Strictly no canvassing prior to close of nominations
  • 40 Union members, including two Union Council members must nominate a potential candidate.  Union Council members include Class Reps and current SU Officers
  • Defacement or alteration of the Nomination Form will invalid the nomination
  • Candidates running for Sabbatical positions must not be restricted from employment in Ireland
  • Elected Sabbatical Officers will need to undergo Garda Vetting
  • The decision on valid candidacy is at the discretion of the Returning Officer and their decision is final

Details required on the nomination form:

  • Your name as registered with the University*
  • Your course of study
  • Your student ID number
  • Your contact telephone/mobile number
  • Your campaign manager (if any)

*If you wish to use a name other than your registered name on the ballot form, please email vicky.osullivan@mtu.ie (no monikers/nick names allowed).

Nomination forms will be available to download from 12th February 2025.

If you wish to seek a nomination for any position in the upcoming elections please collect a nomination form from the Students’ Union Office or print the relevant downloadable form which will be available on this webpage from 12th February 2025.

If you would like to receive a printed version of  a nomination form please call to the Students’ Union Office. To  request a nomination form by post, please email mtucorksu@mtu.ie
